Episode 214 has an interview with astrologer Wendy Stacey about the increasing frequency of caesarean births and its effects on birth astrology.
Wendy is Chair of the Astrological Association of Great Britain and Director of the Mayo School of Astrology.
She holds an MA from Bath Spa University College of Cultural Astronomy and Astrology with a thesis on the medicalization of childbirth and the changing of birth time patterns.
The crux of the problem is that doctors are increasingly recommending inducing labor, especially with caesarean sections, and these are usually planned in advance during normal business hours.
This has the unintended side effect of creating greater conformity in the birth of humans, so this happens Monday through Friday during the day.
This has some potentially baffling effects on astrology, as certain placements are much more common and other placements are less common.
You can read more about Wendy’s research in an article she wrote for the Astrological Association Astrological Journal 2010 entitled Pearls of Tomorrow: Birth Intervention and the Astrological Face of the New Generation.
