The free agent center Nerlens Noel and the point guard Elfrid Payton each have a one-year contract with the New York Knicks worth 5 million US dollars, said their agents Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Noel, represented by Rich Paul and Lucas Newton of Klutch Sports, has jumped in the league since the Sixers ranked sixth overall in the 2013 NBA draft. Trading in Philadelphia in the middle of its third season, he spent 1½ seasons with the Mavericks, and then signed a free agent deal with the Thunder in July 2018.
The 26-year-old played 61 games (seven starts) for OKC in the shortened 2019-20 season and averaged 7.4 points and 4.9 rebounds in 18.5 minutes.
He remains one of the better shot blockers in the game. His 2.9 strokes per 36 minutes last season finished sixth in the league.
Payton, represented by CAA’s Aaron Mintz and Ty Sullivan, is returning to the Knicks after averaging 10.0 points and 7.2 assists per game last season.
A six-year veteran, 26-year-old Payton began his career with Orlando Magic, which made him the 10th overall winner of the 2014 design.
He has also played for the Phoenix Suns and New Orleans Pelicans.
