“Jolene” singer Dolly Parton admits she would love Beyonce to release a cover of the legendary hit track.
The 74-year-old singer is proud of the fact that so many artists have covered her classic 1974 single, but she still hopes that one day a great artist will record her own version of the track and enjoy a “really big hit” with it.
She told Big Issue, “Jolene has been recorded more than any other song I’ve ever written.”
“It has been recorded over 400 times worldwide in many different languages by many different bands.”
“The White Stripes did a wonderful job, and so did many other people. But no one ever had a really big hit. “
“I’ve always hoped that someday someone could do something, someone like Beyonce.”
Meanwhile, one of Dolly’s proudest moments was responding to the late Whitney HoustonIn 1992 she recorded her song “I will always love you”.
“I was number one twice with ‘I’ll always love you” – once in the 70s, then I did it in the movie The best little whorehouse in Texasand had another number one in the 80s. And then Whitney did and it was considered one of the greatest love songs of all time. I am very proud of that to this day. “
