EXCLUSIVE: Archie Comics is known for bringing us famous personalities like Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Katy Keene, Sabrina, the teenage witch and of course the redheaded heartthrob himself, all of which have been adapted to popular television series. Archie Comics goes beyond the confines of Riverdale and delves into the vast library of superheroes with a revamped version of Archie Mighty crusaders with the help of Dead Pool Creator Rob Liefeld.
Archie Comics and Liefeld are going to reintroduce that Mighty crusaders to new audiences through a new four-issue comic series due out next year. The redesign is pulled from the library of Mighty crusaders Characters that include characters like Shield, the Comet, the Jaguar, and Fly-Girl, among others.
The bestselling author / author / artist Liefeld has been behind some of the most famous comic characters like the aforementioned Deadpool “Merc with a Mouth” as well as Cable, X-Force and Brigade. He has also worked on franchise characters like Captain America, The Avengers and most recently G.I. JoeSnake eyes.
Mighty crusaders will also represent a step towards reintroducing Archie’s essential superhero IP to a modern readership and audience. Best known for their youthful humor, romance, and YA-centric titles, this creative partnership will put this part of the Archie library in the spotlight. With shows like Riverdale, Chilling Adventures by Sabrina and Katy Keenethe company’s untapped superhero library is ripe for adaptation.

The Mighty Crusaders first appeared in issues of Fly man written in 1965 before receiving his own series of Superman Co-creator Jerry Siegel. The superhero team was featured in Marvel and DC during the golden age of the Avengers and Justice League of America. The title was canceled and revived in 1983 before being republished in 1992.
