Demetra George on ancient astrology in theory and practice

Episode 188 contains an interview with the astrologer Demetra George about her new book called Ancient Astrology in Theory and Practice, A Handbook of Traditional Techniques – Volume 1: Assessing Planetary Condition.

This is the first of two volumes in which Demetra offers a detailed treatment of ancient Hellenistic astrology, the type of astrology practiced during the time of the Roman Empire.

Unlike other treatments of ancient astrology, Demetra focuses most of the book on the actual techniques and practices of the early forms of astrology rather than spending a lot of time talking about history.

It is also designed as a workbook so that at the end of each chapter you can apply the techniques to your own diagram using guided lessons to confirm that you understand what you are reading by putting the principles of interpretation into practice.
