Sagittarius Dean 1 ~ General meaning
Sagittarius Dean 1 is ruled by Mercury and Jupiter (Sagittarius Triple). Sagittarius travels through the constellations of Scorpio, Wolf, Kneeling Man, Snake Bearer, Compass and Triangle from November 22nd to December 2nd. Mercury, which represents this dean, gives him his shadowy side, as this god could travel between the underworld and the surface world.
As Hermes, Mercury is associated with the Caduceus and medicine. Most of Sagittarius decan 1 is made up of Scorpio and Ophiuchus, and even the other constellations that fill in the blanks here have a medical theme. The great attraction for foreign cultures that comes with Sagittarius serves these topics well in the search for herbs (or drugs ..), remedies and enlightenment from near and far.
Shamans and private detectives
There is also a fascination with ancient cultures and their healing wisdom. Sagittarius loves wide spaces, fresh air and closeness to nature. The shamanic cultures of the Native Americans and those who live in the rainforests of South America would appeal to Sagittarius Dean 1. The aforementioned wolf also has a close relationship with the indigenous people of India and was revered and respected as a medicinal animal. “Wolf is the innovator, the forerunner of new ideas, returning to the clan to teach and share medicine.”
So this dean is medicine everywhere and also has a deep interest in metaphysics. I have found a good number of notable astrologers and occultists in my research. Not surprisingly, the lists below are peppered with some notoriously “evil” specimens, as well as some famous modern day “shamans” and new ages. Psychologist and psychonaut Timothy Leary, a Harvard psychologist, was made famous by President Nixon “The Most Dangerous Man in America” for his advocacy of the psychedelic LSD. Ironically, LSD has been a government program all along, but that’s another story!
The tarot card associated with this dean is the eight of wands. You can see the intensity of this Dean reflected in the frenzy of this card. Mercury and Jupiter as rulers show a desire to juggle many opportunities at the same time. “Things are starting to take action now as adrenaline drives your system. It’s time to move, so get on your way. You must strike now, while the iron is hot and when you are so excited. You have a real dynamic behind you, so you just have to take the first step and after that it will snow…. Every opportunity will seem exciting and wonderful. Each will be hard to resist, but it won’t be possible to take them all on board. ”~ Teachmetarot
