Monique Samuels and Chris Samuels appeared on Monday morning, hours after the Real Potomac housewives Reunion finale where they talked about why they wouldn’t be returning for a sixth season.
After apparently sharing their decision to end the Bravo Reality series on their Instagram stories on Sunday night, Monique and her husband said they would “definitely” not return for any more episodes after discovering that the fifth season began with “fun” and “light”. It was Monique’s most “intense” season to date.
“I’m done. I’ve had enough and go on with my life,” said Monique FOX 5 Good afternoon D.C. on December 28th. “There is so much ugliness that is rooted in so much hatred. [and] That’s the kind of energy I’m not going to play with. My children, my family, my husband mean more to me than anything and there is no paycheck in this world that allows me to stay in this stressful environment. “
According to Monique, she continued to know her time RHOP had come to an end after her family was drawn into the show’s drama. Before she completely removed herself from the series, however, she did her best to shed light on the truth of her story while also exposing the alleged lies of her castmates.
“I was prepared because when reality TV is on, it’s not about truth, it’s about perception,” she said. “I said,” I’ll come with the truth. When I have this folder full of receipts and I give you facts, there is no denying it. “
At the time of the reunion taping, Monique had been dealing with the families and livelihoods of the people being thrown under the bus “for a show and an act”.
“I didn’t sign up for that,” she noted. “The reason Chris and I wanted to join reality TV was to try to change some of the stereotypes that exist about black people and black families in general. Unfortunately, I played along with the whole incident with the physical confrontation last season.
Looking back at their fight on camera with Candiace Dillard-BassettMonique admitted that she was “very disappointed” in herself and said she was currently “trying to figure out how to pick up the pieces and move forward”.
Chris found that RHOP The behavior of the cast is “unhappy”.
“It’s very disappointing to literally make things up, to run with lies, to have a scandal … It’s very disappointing,” he explained. “People really went with my family with lies, disgusting things, attacking a child on the carotid artery, and it’s so disappointing, and then they don’t even have the courage to stand on their own two feet and apologize …”
Although Chris didn’t enjoy the many attacks he and his wife received from their castmates, he said he had no regrets joining the series and said this actually brought him and Monique closer together.
“This has strengthened our relationship on an entirely different level. There have been a few times when we shed tears on each other’s shoulders and it forced us to lean on each other in a difficult situation. We didn’t run to everyone else. We took care of it in the house. We knew our truth and stood by it, ”he shared.
Monique said she hopes that one day her children will be proud of her decision to quit RHOP.
“I hope they can be proud and say, ‘You know what, mom? You went with integrity and did what you saw was right … [and] What was the best for our family unit? “Because my family matters most and what comes first,” she concluded.
