In episode 185, astrologers Kelly Surtees, Austin Coppock, and Chris Brennan answer audience questions on a variety of astrological topics, from professional astrology to conceptual questions relating to homes and the zodiac.
We begin the episode by researching what has been going on for the three of us and in the astrological community since our last conversation in mid-November, and then asking a few questions.
Most of the questions were asked by astrologers on Twitter, where a fairly active and lively community around astrology has developed recently.

Here are the questions we addressed in this episode, starting with the username of each person who asked one from Twitter. The original thread on Twitter has all of the questions, including some great questions that we didn’t answer.
Saturn & the solar astrology@saturnsunastro
“I’ve always wanted to know how other astrologers approach consultations where the customer is deliberately unwilling to enter into a dialogue exchange. What then is your approach? This was often the case when working in metaphysical shops.”
maren altman Ⓥ@Marenaltman
Business Question: Do you all earn most of your income directly from consultations or from teaching and other passive sources?
“How did each of you discover how you read? How do you get around to figuring out your method / system for prioritizing the items to be considered when presenting a customer chart? How long did it take to solidify your method? “
- (Aside from Chris: Shakirah Tabourn just published NFLUX astrology magazine, and it’s great! I would highly recommend checking it out.)
Is it rude to ask what house system an astrologer uses when inquiring about a session?
I am curious to see when you will receive a customer’s birth reading for the first time. What do you start with when you talk to the customer?
Old school astrology@oldschoolastro
To what extent does each of you explain the techniques in a reading? Are you delivering the information to the customer only or are you referring to the placements and configurations from which you are getting the information? And when you explain, how much time do you spend explaining?
GREAT WITCH ENERGY@Millymichelle
How to properly use the Draconian Diagram, if you use it, and how to properly incorporate it into the expression of the self versus the natal chart. What purpose does it serve besides the knee-jerk magic that it is a rendering of the soul purpose? 😬✨
I would like to hear the three of you compare and contrast your views and the application of the lunar nodes.
Of course, if customers ask you to leave their partner, we can’t make that choice for them. How did you help people cope with this situation?
Arthur Lipp-Bonewits ✨⚡️💘@Lipandbone
Where do you three disagree most?
Is there a value for 12 letter astrology?
Charm Torres – astrologer@charm_astrology
Can any of you draw our attention to your preparations? How much time do you actually need now compared to your first start? Can be for a birth reading and / or an annual update. TY!
