EXCLUSIVE: After Roberto Larios was promoted to Agent just before the holidays last year, Verve has started the new year by hiring literary agent Noah Ballard and adding to its publishing team. The hiring will also strengthen the presence in New York as Ballard is based in the agency’s New York offices.
Ballard, a graduate of the University of Nebraska, began his career with Emma Sweeney in her agency of the same name before moving to Curtis Brown, where he has been an agent for six years. Ballard’s clients include Cinelle Barnes (from Writer’s Digest as “Top Literary Agent to Follow on Twitter”).Monsoon villa), Julie DiCaro (Offside), Josh Gondelman (Nice try) and Tochi Onyebuchi (Riot baby, war girl).

Ballard joins the Verve Publishing team, which consists of Liz Parker, who oversees the department, and Chris Lupo, who leads the Books-To-Screen team. Ballard will focus primarily on literary fiction and will further the agency’s publishing reach in the children, youth and picture book sectors.
