I published a new one As part of Piece at The dropout this evening. Last week there were rumors that Chris Evans might return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after leaving Avengers: Endgame.
This is interesting as it may undermine one of the most interesting facets of the future Marvel Cinematic Universe. Comics are largely nostalgic and defined, with beloved characters filling familiar roles over the long term, and any major change in the status quo eventually reverting to the default. In contrast, a cinematic universe is subject to different restrictions: actors keep moving, aging and even dying. This would force an elongated shared universe to develop in a way that comics didn’t have to. This is a good thing because evolution is necessary.
