On episode 155 of the podcast, Kelly Surtees made a live stream with me on YouTube where we answered some questions from listeners about their natal charts and then showed how we would answer those questions as astrologers in a counseling setting.
This was a bit of an experiment as I’d never tried much to do a live chart reading demonstration before, and what also made it unique was that we streamed the discussion live in front of an audience on YouTube when we did did.
The questions were submitted by customers of the Astrology podcast who signed up on Patreon through our page, and we pre-selected some to focus on, but otherwise our responses were done on the fly with no preparation.
Part of the goal was to do a little demonstration of how astrologers answer different types of questions from clients, and to reflect on some of the broader dynamics that emerge from astrological consultations.
We were a little constrained in some of the timing techniques we could use as we got things done on the fly with no prep time. Hence, there has been a tendency to focus only on birthplace and transits rather than engaging in other timing techniques such as annual pros, secondary progressions, or zodiacal release.
An element of dialogue with the client was also missing to get confirmation of whether our interpretations of past or current indications were correct. We can try to fix this if we do this again in the future, although a listener did live stream with us later on the show to provide feedback on their chart.
In the end we had around 100 questions from listeners, so unfortunately we couldn’t reach them all, but thanks to everyone who submitted one! We hope to be able to do this again in the future.

Birth charts and questions
For those listening to the audio version of this episode, here are the questions and their corresponding natal charts that we reviewed, in the order in which they appeared:
I am currently learning something about dignity and weaknesses and with the help of the points system I have determined that Mars is the most worthy planet on my map, followed by Saturn. I have a day pass. How does this affect the behavior of my Mars? Main question: Does an overly vicious planet act more viciously in a day ticket or does the venerable state lead to a milder and more constructive Mars? I know none of this takes into account the aspects that Mars does.
How will the major midlife transits present themselves in my life? What can I see and how can I best prepare myself?
Do I have to have terrible friendships? My eleventh landlord is in the eighth house and my Saturn is in the eleventh house. I have great problems making and maintaining good friends.
I have a pretty affected Mars, especially its square with Saturn. What advice would you give for this placement and aspect, particularly with respect to the areas of life in which they are incorporated?
My question to you and Kelly is, what do I think is my best and most challenging planet or my best ranking? What techniques would you use and how would you interpret them? What would you advise to overcome the challenges and improve the positives? What interests me most is how you would both interpret my cardinal T-square and my lunar nodal placement.
