On Friday, Steve Scalise, the minority whip in the House, sent an email urging Republicans to vote “no” to what he called the “Payoff to Progressives Act” by Nancy Pelosi.
“It is clear that Democrats have no interest in reaching out to COVID relief in a timely and targeted manner, and instead use the reconciliation process to work through their liberal wish-list agenda,” Scalise’s office wrote.
The Senate is divided 50:50 on a party-political basis, with Vice President Kamala Harris having the casting vote.
