The young and restless star Sasha Colle has been cast as the legendary Supergirl by DC Comics and will make her film debut in Warner Bros’ new feature film The Flash. Calle makes history as the first Latina Supergirl, defeating over 400 actresses who auditioned for the role.
Deadline.com was the first to post the exclusive news, which was later confirmed on Instagram by The Flash director Andy Muschietti. Calle’s audition reportedly left a big impression on the director’s DC executives like Walter Hamada, who were “blown away” by the actress’ toughness and vulnerability. She joins a cast that includes Ezra Miller as Barry Allen / The Flash, Michael Keaston and Ben Affleck, both of whom play the version of Batman. Filming is scheduled to begin later in 2021.

Sasha Calle has portrayed Lola Rosales-Abbott in the successful CBS daily soap opera The Young and the Restless since 2018. Her work on the series earned her a Daytime Emmy nomination at the 47th Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series. The Flash has been in development hell since 2014. A variety of directors, writers and producers including Greg Berlanti, Chris Miller, Rick Famuyiwa, Sam Raimi, Marc Webb, John Fancis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein confirmed they were / or in the race but ultimately withdrew for various reasons . Birds of Prey screenwriter Christina Hodson is currently tied to the project and is said to include elements from the famous comic book plot “Flashpoint,” which takes The Flash back in time to save his mother from murder. which lead to significant changes in current and future schedules.
The Flash is expected to be released in November 2022.
