Saturday night live (SNL) targeted the misconduct of several celebrities and politicians with a new cold open and this time faked a talk show hosted by Britney Spears.
The show, titled “Oops, You Did It Again,” featured Texan Senator Ted Cruz, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and the former as a piece to one of Spears’ most famous songs The Mandalorians Star Gina Carano.
“Basically, I started this show ‘Oops, you did it again’ so people could apologize for things they did wrong because according to the Free Britney documentary, I get hundreds of excuses every day,” said Spears, who was played by actor Chloe Fineman.
The first guest on the show was Cruz, who was criticized this week after it was revealed that he was vacationing in Mexico while a massive snow storm left thousands of Americans in Texas without electricity or running water.
“I’m sorry. I deeply regret flying mostly United for the past few days,” joked Cruz, played by Aidy Bryant.
Spears then asked if Cruz understood why people were calling him a coward, to which he replied that this was actually the nicest word he’d heard.
“But let me ask you this: Would a coward have the cajons to attribute his actions to his young daughters,” he asked, referring to a statement he made Thursday that apparently put the blame on his two daughters, “the one why asked to go on a trip with friends. ” . ”
Next came Cuomo to Spears, played by Pete Davidson.
Forced to explain why a significant number of nursing home deaths in the state were counted as hospital deaths, Cuomo likened the controversy to what “basically happened at Disney World.”
“People die and they move bodies. They say,” Oh, I think Brenda died in the parking lot, not the teacups. “So we just did the Disney thing,” he said.
The last guest on the show was Carano, who was fired from her role in The Mandalorian after several controversial comments on social media.
“I didn’t do anything wrong, no one can explain what I did wrong – explain it,” asked Carano, played by Cecily Strong.
“OK, you said on Instagram that conservatives are just as bad off as people who live in Nazi Germany,” Spears replied, to which Carano said. “OK, congratulations, you explained it.”
