On ep. 152 of the podcast, Laura London and Jenn Zahrt discuss a new book by Liz Greene called Jung’s Astrology Studies: Prophecy, Magic, and the Properties of Time.
In the book, Dr. Greene various modern and ancient sources that influenced Carl Jung’s views on astrology, which in turn helped shape his approach to psychology and some of the key concepts he introduced into his work.
The purpose of this episode of the podcast was to discuss the book and some of the thoughts we had after reading it over the past week.
This book is the first of two volumes published at the same time. You can find more information about each band on Amazon:
Jung’s Astrology Studies: Prophecy, Magic, and the Properties of Time
Jung’s astrological world Liber Novus: Demons, gods and the planetary journey
We have decided to limit this discussion to Volume 1 and hope to be able to record a follow-up podcast on Volume 2 at some point that deals with Volume 1 The red book from Jung.
This is an episode intended to complement two previous discussions about Jung in the past few months, the first with Safron Rossi about her book Jung on Astrology and the second with Keiron Le Grice about Jung’s concept of synchronicity.
Laura London is the host of the Speaking of Jung podcast, in which she interviews Jungian analysts on a variety of topics related to Jung’s work and thoughts.
Jenn Zahrt specialized in the study of astrology in Germany at the beginning of the 20th century and was previously seen on the podcast to discuss the life and work of Elsbeth Ebertin.
