Kendrick Johnson Gym MatValdosta, Ga., Police obtained an apparent tape documenting a person’s confession to murdering teenage Kendrick Johnson, whose body was found in a rolled-up mat in his high school high school in 2013, Crime Online reports.
Lowndes County Sheriff Ashley Paulk has reported that Kendrick Johnson’s mother got her hands on the tape of the person who admits they murdered the boy and rolled him on the gymnastics mat.
Although it has been eight years since the 17-year-old’s body was found in the gym mat, it appears that Kendrick Johnson’s family only recently purchased the tape.
The mother then passed the tape on to the authorities
Paul said the family bought the recording from someone who claimed it was “valuable as a way of telling who may have committed the crime and changed their situation”.

Local authorities are in the process of verifying the authenticity of the tape, which allegedly provides an answer to who killed Kendrick Johnson and wrapped his body in the gym mat.
“If it’s a joke, it’s a very, very cruel joke to harm Mrs. Johnson,” Paulk insisted.
Kendrick Johnson’s body was found on the gym mat at Lowndes High School in January 2013.

Georgian authorities have long claimed that Kendrick Johnson’s body, despite being found in the gym mat under suspicious circumstances, was accidental and the result of a freak accident.
Johnson’s family dismissed this assessment as nonsense and accused the authorities of a cover-up.
After receiving the overt confessional tape, authorities are now trying to re-interview key witnesses who may be able to help them solve the case and determine how Kendrick Johnson’s body ended up on the gymnastics mat.
Fox 5 Atlanta reports that Paulk said of the Johnson family, “They had a record that they actually bought from someone who said it would be valuable if they said who might have committed the crime and changed their situation .
The sheriff says his office will not release the audio recording at this point.
Kendrick Johnson murder case: Sheriff receives possible audio confession
Kendrick Johnson’s family has long claimed that teenagers Brian and Brenden Bell killed him and put him on the gym mat along with boyfriend Ryan Hall.
The Bell brothers are the sons of an FBI agent.
However, video footage documents that Brian Bell and Hall were on the school grounds, but not near where Kendrick Johnson believed to have died and landed on an exercise mat. Branden Bell was participating in a Macon wrestling tournament at the time of Johnson’s tragic death.
CNN reports that this new phase of investigation could take up to six months.
“My plan is to see if there are any discrepancies between the reports,” said Paulk, who leads the investigation. He added that he had no disposition for the case. “I hope he’s doing the right thing,” said Kenneth Johnson of Paulk. “I just hope the truth comes out.”
