The Utah JazzThe team charter plane had to make an emergency landing shortly after takeoff on Tuesday after hitting a flock of birds, resulting in an engine problem.
The Jazz were on their way to Memphis, Tennessee, where they were supposed to play the Grizzlies on Wednesday night.
No injuries were reported. The Jazz confirmed that its Delta charter for the game had returned to Salt Lake City International Airport shortly after takeoff on Wednesday.
A team source who was on the plane told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski that the players heard a loud bang and saw a flash of lightning from the left engine.
Two jazz players told Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated that they were extremely relieved and grateful that no one was injured.
The team was waiting for a new plane at Salt Lake City Airport, a source told Wojnarowski.
