Cris Cyborg will bring her Bellator womens featherweight title against Leslie Smith on the line on May 21st, which was announced on Friday night during the Bellator 255 broadcast.
Cyborg defeated Smith in Cyborg’s UFC debut in 2016. Cyborg (23-2, 1 NC) is one of the best fighters of all time. The Brazilian racket beat Arlene Blencowe in the second round last October. That was Cyborg’s first title defense.
The 35-year-old cyborg stopped Julia Budd by TKO in the fourth round in January 2020 to win the title. That win made Cyborg the first fighter to win titles in four major promotions: UFC, Bellator, Strikeforce and Invicta.
Since 2005, Cyborg has only been defeated by UFC double champion Amanda Nunes. Cyborg left the UFC when her contract expired in 2019 after a rocky tenure.
Smith (12-8-1) has won four of their last five fights. The native Californian made a unanimous decision on Amanda Bell last September.
38-year-old Smith was terminated by Cyborg in 1:21 at UFC 198 on May 14, 2016, but denied it on the grounds that it was a premature interruption.
She is best known for her attempts to organize MMA fighters who do not have a union or association.
