English stage and film actress Helen McCrory who has appeared in several British productions, including Peaky Blinders, Skyfall and three Harry Potter Movies, died at the age of 52.
McCrory’s husband Damian Lewis announced their death in a social media post on Friday.
“Heartbroken to announce that the beautiful and powerful Mrs. Helen McCrory has died peacefully at home after a heroic battle with cancer, surrounded by a wave of love from friends and family,” he wrote on a Twitter post. “She died while she was alive. Fearless. God we love her and we know how lucky we are to have had her in our lives. It was blazing so brightly. Now, kid, get up in the air and thank you. “
The couple have two children together.
The London-born actress has appeared in many well-known TV and film franchises throughout her career. She starred in as Aunt Polly Peaky Blinders and Narcissa Malfoy in the Harry Potter Films, in addition to roles in Penny Dreadful, Vampires of Venice, Doctor Who and the James Bond movie Skyfall. She also played the wife of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Cherie, in The Queen and The special relationship.
McCrory also had extensive experience as a stage actor in London.
Her death sparked sympathy among her former creative employees.
“I am devastated to learn of the death of Helen McCrory, an extraordinary actress and wonderful woman who left us way too soon,” she tweeted Harry Potter Author J.K. Rowling.
