Officials from these nations will join forces with members of Group of 7 on Wednesday to discuss open societies, including freedom of the media and the fight against disinformation, added Ms. Barks-Ruggles. Samantha Power, the administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development, will attend sessions dedicated to ensuring a sustainable recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.

Although Biden government officials have expressed their support for the Ukrainian government, they have pressured Kiev to complete reforms within the country’s notoriously corrupt political system. The Foreign Ministry said this would be a priority for Mr Blinken and that progress in this area “is the key to securing Ukraine’s democratic institutions, economic prosperity and the Euro-Atlantic future”.
