Seattle Storm Forward and reigning WNBA final MVP Breanna Stewart announced her engagement to Phoenix Mercury guard Marta Xargay in a social media post on Sunday.
“Did something. One more ring. She said YES,” Stewart said Captions of the suggestion she shared on Instagram.
Stewart, a two-time WNBA champion, was the regular season MVP and MVP of the WNBA Finals in 2018 and the MVP of the finals last year.
30-year-old Xargay is from Spain and previously played for Mercury in 2015 and 2016. She is currently on Phoenix’s preseason list.
Stewart, 26, is also named MVP for the EuroLeague and Russian League, winning both championships with UMMC Ekaterinburg last month.
As a four-time NCAA champion at UConn, Stewart starts her fifth season in the WNBA. She missed 2019 with an Achilles tendon injury.
