Leicester City won their first FA Cup with a 1-0 win over Chelsea thanks to a stunning goal from Youri Tielemans on Saturday at Wembley.
The midfielder scored a fantastic goal in the second half to give Leicester a historic victory in front of 20,000 spectators – the largest participation on a UK football field since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the win, Brendan Rodgers also receives his first major trophy in English football.
“It’s an amazing feeling, I wasn’t aware before arriving in Leicester that they had never won the FA Cup. They had lost in four finals before to give that to the owners and fans, so special”, Said Rodgers. “So proud of the board players, the supporters, a great day for the city, so proud for everyone.
A landmark day ended with emotional scenes when Leicester’s Thai owner was invited onto the field to celebrate with the team.
Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha’s father Vichai, whose property helped transform the Midlands Club, died in a helicopter crash at Leicester Stadium in 2018.
“We have a picture [of him] on the inside of our shirts so that he is always with us. We dreamed and talked about it for so long, “said Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, whose late saves were crucial for the win.
The first half of the game was slow but came to life after 63 minutes when Tielemans hit with a stunning long-range shot.
“It feels really good, it’s amazing, I’m really happy to score the goal to help the team win the game,” said Tielemans. “It was a very close game and to score in the final, but what a goal it was. I’m really happy for the team and the fans.”
The result leads Chelsea to lose twice in a row in the FA Cup final after losing to Arsenal last season.
“We are disappointed and not angry with our performance from the boys,” said Tuchel. “I think the performance is enough to win it. I think we were unlucky today and we have never hidden the fact that we need it to win at this level.”

It was a very cagey start to the game, with the first chance after 24 minutes when Mason Mount’s goal was deflected wide out of range.
Chelsea had another moment to open the goal, but Timo Werner shot the ball away from Cesar Azpilicueta, who was free for a tap-in.
Leicester suffered a blow shortly after the half hour when Jonny Evans was injured and was replaced by Marc Albrighton.
Leicester’s best chance came when Tielemans gave Jamie Vardy a loft pass who headed wide before the break. The first half ended without a single attempt on goal from either side.
Chelsea introduced Christian Pulisic and Ben Chilwell after Tielemans’ goal. The latter came close to equalizing after 77 minutes, but his header was rejected by a save by Schmeichel.
Schmeichel made an even better stop four minutes before the end when he played a mount half-volley from the penalty area.
Chilwell thought he had the late equalizer but it was sidelined and Leicester held for the win.
“Youri Tielemans’ goal was like a winning goal in the old school FA Cup, but also Kasper Schmeichel’s parade, those are the special moments you need in games. Overall, we were the better team, super aggressive, well depressed, we were always a threat to the ball, “added Rodgers.
