A well-read author like Cheryl Strayed doesn’t need an introduction to our book lovers, but it doesn’t hurt to give one. She is the author of the No. 1 New York Times Best selling memoir Wild: From lost to found on the Pacific Crest Trail, the New York Times bestseller Tiny beautiful things and Brave enoughand the novel torch. Readers and moviegoers alike will know Wild for his Oscar-nominated adaptation, starring Reese Witherspoon as Cheryl and Laura Dern as Cheryl’s mom, Bobbi, who follows Strayed as she explores the terrain of loss and self-acceptance on a three-month solo hike along the Crest Trail. Strayed, an early Oprah Winfrey favorite, is also best known for her radical empathy as the extraordinary advisor to Sugar, whom she hosts New York Times Hit podcast Call sugar as well as Dear sugarwho brought her together with Steve Almond.
Now Strayed is offering some of the books she loves as part of her new “Wild Reads” book club with Literati, which “features selections of personal travel transformed into tales of courage, vulnerability and wit”. We had to look at the book lovers we are first.
