Billionaire celebrity Kim Kardashian has been sued by seven of her domestic servants who claim the superstar failed to properly pay them or give them adequate breaks.
The work addressed in the lawsuit took place in the home of 40-year-old Kim Kardashian in Hidden Hills, an exclusive residential complex in the Santa Monica Mountains.
The civil lawsuit filed in the Los Angeles District Supreme Court on Monday stated: “Plaintiffs never received a payroll, were not paid on a regular basis, were not given the necessary meals and rest, and were not given funding to help everyone To record their records hours, not all hours were paid, labor costs were not reimbursed, not all overtime wages were paid, and they were not paid upon termination of employment. “
NBC News, which first reported the lawsuit, said workers claim Kardashian withheld 10 percent of their wages for taxes but failed to report their employment to tax authorities.
The seven workers who filed the lawsuit did not provide the exact amount they are seeking for damages, but said it was more than $ 25,000 excluding interest.
A representative for the reality star said in a statement that Kardashian cannot be held responsible because the workers were provided by an unidentified “third party” provider.
“These people were hired and paid by a third party contracted by Kim to provide ongoing services. Kim is not involved in the agreement between the seller and his employees, so she is not responsible for how the seller conducts their business and what agreements they have made directly with their employees, ”the statement said.
“Kim has never paid a salesperson for her services and hopes that the problem between these workers and the salesperson who hired them can be resolved soon,” it concluded.
Arguably one of the most famous faces in the world, Kardashian currently runs clothing and makeup businesses with her reality TV empire. For the first time, she was recently inducted into Forbes Magazine’s billionaires list.
Kardashian filed for divorce from husband Kanye West in February of this year after six years of marriage.
