After a long anticipation, Steffy and Finn are finally back at The Bold and the Beautiful. The new parents shared their first few scenes with Thomas and Ridge and wasted no time showing their closeness after the Covid restriction. For those wondering what chemistry would be like when they finally got a touch, today should have answered all of the questions. They were on fire.
Steffy and Finn quickly declared their absence and both spoke to Steffy’s daughter Kelly as the center of their family unit along with their child in their womb. Unlike her birth father, Finn seems to enjoy including the precocious toddler in his plans. The way he talks about her and lights up when he says her name is a clear indication of how much he adores her. Spending a few minutes with Ridge and letting him know about her adventures makes her father happy. He even comments on how pretty they are together. Shortly afterwards Thomas comes and notices that he had contact with Finn during their break and that he has cute pictures of his niece Kelly. It was a sweet family moment just before Steffy and Finn went to their doctor’s appointment.
At the appointment, Finn and Steffy are practically inseparable, his hands caressing her baby bump, sneaking into kisses when the doctor comes and comments on how excited she is to see the happy couple. She smiles with a fifth smile, asks them if they are ready for their appointment and they say it is them.
When the happy couple hears the news that their baby is healthy and growing according to plan, they are presented with an incredible choice as they know the gender of their unborn child. At first they both agree to keep the gender a secret, but after a few seconds they both get nervous. Steffy wants to give Finn the choice and he admits that he really would like to know and they both give in.
With growing anticipation, the doctor announces that they are having a boy. Steffy and Finn are both overwhelmed by emotions and Steffy reveals that she was hoping for a boy. The most delightful part of the reveal was the sheer excitement of both of them sharing the news with Kelly. Finn really cares that much about his new stepdaughter. It’s great to see considering how little attention she gets from her other “parents”.
The couple stares at their ultrasound image, shares several tender moments, and indulges in their joy. Finn is excited to have this exciting time with a woman he totally loves, and he is excited to start his life with her children. And yes, he kept Kelly in every breath. It’s refreshing to see that she’s more than just an afterthought of a father figure.
As Sinn’s first day was a huge success, I can’t wait to see what’s next for the attractive young couple. Seeing them interact with both their new baby and Kelly will be a welcome change. I also hope that wedding plans come as well. At this point I am hoping for an intimate wedding with only family and close friends and without an ex or wife of an ex, that is, if they are not imprisoned.
One thing I really hope in is good fear. While Finn and Steffy are compelling and Steffy deserves a great love story, we still need more levels for this couple. The chemistry is right, so that’s not a problem, but we’ll need more to immerse ourselves. Maybe a few relatives for Finn and definitely more from his family and history. We need to know where he’s from. Do his parents live? Does he have any siblings? What happened in his previous relationships? These could be some interesting ways to incorporate the lack of fear.
There is so much to do, but whatever we get, one thing I know for sure, Liam must be far from it. Just last week, he admitted that Finn would be a good father figure to his eldest daughter and pretty much wrote her off as cared for. It was almost like they were writing it to understand that he wasn’t going to bother with Kelly as much as he should. Steffy’s character is a complex and multi-faceted person who works better regardless of Liam and his constant need to be praised. He literally sucks her life out of her and reduces her to the role of a glorified babysitter and it was no longer timely to share a romantic connection with someone who matched her level of maturity. She has her counterpart in Finn, and whatever awaits her, I expect it to be interesting and treated like functioning adults. I’m excited to see what comes out of this dynamic duo.
The Bold and the Beautiful airs on CBS on weekdays.
