Name game! Nick Carter and Lauren Kitt revealed her youngest daughter’s nickname, Pearl, exclusively in the latest issue of Us weekly, one month after she was born.
“Funny enough, that was the name Lauren wanted to give [our eldest daughter], Saoirse, ”said the 41-year-old Backstreet Boys member Us while promoting the new album his band is working on. “We essentially gave up the name, but Lauren really liked Pearl. Then we realized we were going to have another baby. Then I thought, ‘Listen, let’s do what you want.’ So she became Pearl. “
Kitt, 37, joked that they liked the monosyllabic name because “we needed something simpler than Saoirse”.
The singer and his wife announced the arrival of their little one in April. “As parents, you know everything [sic] very good, sometimes things don’t go as planned, ”the native New Yorker tweeted at the time. “We had a few minor complications, but things look a little better after the first night.”
Almost a week later, the couple went home with their baby. Pearl joined older siblings Odin (5) and Saoirse (19 months).
Saoirse got her name when Carter and Kitt watched a movie called Song of the Sea while the Face the music Author was on tour. “I fell in love with this little girl character who was sort of the little sister of this older blond boy,” der Dance with the stars Alum declares to be Us. “You were brother and sister and your name is Saoirse.”

As for Odin, the couple’s oldest child is a “nature boy”. Carter stated that “he loves bugs and science projects and is an analytical person,” adding, “I would try making music videos, but he says, ‘Uh, whatever.’ Or when I exercise with him he says, ‘Uh, whatever.’ “
