You’d think, after all the stories I’ve written about travel style in my years at Who What Wear, I would have forbidden myself to commit crimes while wearing airport attire. Unfortunately, I am still guilty. My problem is that I tend to look stylish rather than comfortable, so I keep reminding myself to take my own advice. (I promise you both style and comfort are possible.)
I’m not going to pretend it’s not hard to dress for the airport. Between security checks, what feels like walking miles through terminals, adjusting to different temperatures and having to sit in one place for a long time, there is a lot to consider. Because it can get overwhelming, I admit my most common mistakes when it comes to airport outfits. They may be subtle, but avoiding them will improve your comfort on those long days of travel.
