Leo season runs from July 21st to August 21st. We are in the middle of summer and the season has now stabilized in this fixed omen. We can rely more on the sun’s persistence, so this is the time most of us take our summer vacation.
The Leo season also marks the start of the summer vacation for the school children. Then six weeks of fun for the children and of course a bit of chaos for the parents! This time of year is also known as the “silly time of year” (at least in the UK) when the government is also taking a break and there are fewer newsworthy actions.
Leo as a sign is associated with children, and his house is the fifth. The hottest weather of the year isn’t the best for work, so there’s a better time to take some time off. The religious festivals that many Mediterranean countries have during the lion season are reaching their peak.
Leo season Matchmaking & dancing
Fireworks, processions, open-air theater, dances and celebrations take place at this time, all very Leo activities. It’s also a time of celebration and matchmaking. Leo is THE most romantic sign while the 5th house is the house of recreational sex. The Leo season emphasizes free time and playtime.
The Leo season is a sharp contrast to the Cancer season we have just left behind. Cancer is ruled by the moon and is more inward, which is a bit of a contradiction in terms when you consider that June 21 through July 21 are usually warm and comfortable weeks.
With Leo season we can be brave and confident as we got used to the heat. No burned skin and pale legs that haven’t seen the light of day. We teamed up in the Leo season. In the meantime we have sorted out our summer wardrobe and painted the dingy toenails. It’s time to show us off and hit the Leo catwalk.
Pagan festivals in Lammas and Lughnasadh
The lion season is the best time to go looking for a partner as it is the time of year that we should do our best. ALL signs can be sun kissed and sassy, not just the divas of the zodiac.
The sun naturally burns the cobwebs of depression and lifts us up. We are much more likely to go into nature when it’s not cold, rainy or gloomy. Hay fever sufferers are also happier as the grass pollen season (which peaks in mid-June) subsides.
The pagan Lammas festival takes place on August 1st. The name means “loaf mass”. The “Loaf” part celebrated the first wheat harvest in countries like the British Isles. The Celtic cultures worshiped the craftsman, the sun god ‘Lugh’ on August 1st. The festival day ‘Lughnasadh’ is named after Lugh.
Bless your bread!
The church blessed the first loaves of the season to thank God. Buying a loaf from the local store used to not be an option. If the harvests fail, you could starve to death. The wheat harvested was the result of a year of hard work.
“By celebrating Lammas as a Thanksgiving Day, we honor our ancestors and the hard work they had to do to survive. This is a good time to be thankful for the abundance we have in our lives and to be grateful for the food on our tables. Lammas is a time of transformation, rebirth and new beginnings. ”~ Learn religions
Creativity & Craft
Leo season is a creative time. This is also reflected in the festival of Lughnasadh. We’ll often see craft festivals these weeks where artists put their creations up for sale. For ourselves, we can also take time out to be creative, write music, paint, sing or perform plays. It’s all about PLAY! In some countries, Leo season is a time for fake wars and fake warriors.
In Britain, any town that has a castle can hold a light jousting tournament or emulate a medieval battle. Men disguised as knights are so much lions! It’s also an excellent excuse to show off and impress the ladies. So dress extravagantly this season of costume drama. The world is your stage!
