According to Wall Street journalist Michael C. Bender’s brand new book, “Honestly, We Won This Election: The Inside Story of How Trump Lost” Melania Trump was not at all “comfortable” with the election vigil of another gathering held at the White House during the pandemic. That being said, she refused to attend the said guard party and used her common sense.
Not only that, the book also claims the former first lady even tried to prevent the party, unsuccessfully, of course.
Given that there were some serious restrictions preventing large gatherings at the Trump International Hotel, Mark Meadows, who was then the White House chief of staff, asked Melania three times if they could hold the White House party.
Because traditionally, every celebration in the White House is the responsibility of the first lady.
That being said, the writer writes that if it were up to her Melania would not have allowed any kind of party amid the pandemic, and she even told Meadows and other officials she wasn’t comfortable with it.
She only agreed to her when Donald allegedly called her days before the election from Air Force One and asked for party’s approval.
She reportedly told him, “This is your night – do what you will do. You will do it anyway. ‘
And the COVID-19 situation wasn’t the only reason this party should never have happened!
As it turned out, the Hatch Act states that the White House should never be used for a campaign, so Trump went against the Constitution!
While the President and Vice President are exempt from this law, the other politicians who participated in the party (around 250) are not!
It makes perfect sense that Melania Trump was pretty wary of the virus back in November when she, Donald, and even her son Barron tested positive the month before!
