BOSTON (CBS) – Tuesday will be our busiest weather day of the week with a frontal border through the area. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected as the evening progresses, some of which are likely to be severe.
The front will advance from north to south during the day. The heaviest downpours and the highest chance of a severe storm or two will be mostly south of the Massachusetts Turnpike this afternoon and evening, although some showers are still possible in northern Massachusetts. From 9-11pm the last of the storms should be southeast of Mass. and we will clean up overnight by Wednesday morning.

All of southern New England is at risk from brief, heavy downpours and a few lightning bolts under one of these developing cells.
The isolated heavy cells could generate harmful gusty winds or small hailstones, again more likely south of the pike.
